Oil change? Flush first!

Engine contamination is becoming increasingly common. You may already be familiar with the causes; they include the rise of biofuels, increasingly refined engine and turbo technology, shorter rides, and longer maintenance intervals. Using an engine oil flush additive when changing oil is a logical and simple way to address engine contamination. In this article, we discuss the importance and benefits of using the Eurol Engine Flush.
Why is an engine oil flush necessary?

Over time, contaminants can accumulate in the engine due to oxidation, incomplete combustion, and wear. These contaminants build up in the form of carbon deposits and varnish-like residues that disrupt the engine's operation. These accumulations lead to several problems:

  • Reduced oil circulation: Deposits can clog the oil pump and oil channels, leading to reduced oil circulation and poorer lubrication of moving parts.
  • Increased wear: Poor lubrication causes more friction between engine parts, leading to increased wear and possibly premature failure of engine components.
  • Reduced performance: Accumulations can reduce engine efficiency, resulting in less power, higher fuel and oil consumption, rougher engine operation, increased noise production, and smoke formation.
  • Higher maintenance costs: In the long term, these problems can lead to expensive repairs and increased maintenance costs.
Flush first, then change the engine oil

By flushing the engine when changing the engine design a significant portion of the existing contamination is removed, giving the new, carefully balanced engine oil a much cleaner start. The engine oil flush provides a thorough cleaning of the engine by dissolving stubborn carbon and varnish deposits that have accumulated over time. Compare it to changing the frying oil in a deep fryer. Without cleaning, residual cooking remnants and old, contaminated frying oil remain in the fryer. If you were to add new frying oil directly, it would be much less clean compared to first cleaning the fryer.

Cold feet

There are mechanics who are apprehensive about using an engine oil flush. This may be due to the customer invoice being a bit higher with this service. This fear is unfounded, as long as you clearly explain the benefits of using the engine oil flush to your customer. The benefits for your customer are clear. Using an engine oil flush additive when changing the oil improves engine performance, reduces fuel consumption and emissions, and extends engine life. These extra costs therefore pay off immediately.

Another common misconception is that flushing takes too much time. This is not true. The entire flush process only takes about 10 to 20 minutes, time that can be well spent, for example, picking up a catch basin and new engine oil or preparing the work order. When using an effective engine oil flush additive, like the Eurol Engine Flush, the use of a special engine flush machine is not necessary. This saves you time and money. Have you already calculated what an engine flush at each oil change generates in additional revenue? This is an additional benefit that increases the profitability of your workshop.

It is also a widely held misconception that the engine oil flush is not suitable for older engines. The thought is that the residue or solvents could cause damage to seals or hoses. However, this is not the case when using Eurol Engine Flush. This product is specially developed to be safe for all engine types, including older engines, because it contains no aggressive solvents that can damage the seals. On the contrary, it helps to safely remove accumulated deposits and bring the engine back to optimal condition, without risk of damage.

Engine flushing in 5 steps

The flushing process is simple and is performed in 5 steps:

  • Warm up the engine by letting it idle for about 5 minutes.
  • Turn off the engine and add the engine oil flush additive to the old oil present in the crankcase. A 500 ml can of Eurol Engine Flush is suitable for 3.5 to 6.5L of engine oil, so for many types of car engines, you can use one full can.
  • Start the engine again and let it run for at least 5 minutes. For optimal flushing, rinsing, and cleaning of the engine, 15 minutes of running time gives the best result.
  • Then drain the old engine oil from the vehicle and also replace the oil filter.
  • Finally, add the new engine oil recommended by the Eurol product advisor.
The safe and effective engine oil flush additive

When it comes to choosing a reliable engine oil flush additive, Eurol Engine Flush is the best option. The Eurol Engine Flush is specially developed to quickly and effectively remove deposits and other contaminants. The Eurol Engine Flush can be used with all types of engine oils and is suitable for both gasoline and diesel engines. This is because this additive is formulated based on the same ingredients as motor oil itself, but with a focus on cleaning. It therefore does not affect the lubricating film, which regular engine oil flush additives based on solvents do. Therefore, it is also not a problem when a residue of this product remains in the new engine oil. The product does not damage seals, hoses, or gaskets.
