Ten Brinke was the fastest of the Eurol teams in Dakar. The Toyota Gazoo Racing driver was in the hunt for the stage win but had to concede his fastest time late in the stage. The Dutchman finished in third place within two minutes of Sebastien Loeb, the winner of the days stage.
Giniel de Villiers followed in fourth and is the new overall leader in the car category. The South African leads the Dakar with a advantage of 28 seconds to Ten Brinke. Nasser Al-Attiyah coped well with the difficult task of opening the stage. The Qatari had to find all the right tracks and both he and co-driver Mathieu Baumel worked hard to stay upfront. Al-Attiyah finished just outside the top ten.
The Coronel brothers had another faultless day during the second stage. The Jefferies Dakar Buggy acted well and the guys reached the finish with a very neat 31st place.
The Riwald Dakar Team was the best of the Eurol teams in the truck category during the second stage. Gert Huzink had a solid day and finished within an hour of the stage winner in 15th place. Ed Wigman took some more time to finish the stage within the top 25.
The story of the day was the crash of Martin van den Brink. The Mammoet Rallysport leader rolled over four times and lost loads of time. Janus van Kasteren helped to get the truck back on his wheels and continued his way. The two-time participant of the Dakar Rally went on and finished in 17th place.
