In 2017, Van Buren achieved his breakthrough when he won the title of World's Fastest Gamer and joined McLaren as a simulator driver. Rudy van Buren is currently the official simulator, test and development driver for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez at the Red Bull Formula 1 team. In addition, Rudy is Viaplay TV- commentator and former driver in the Porsche Supercup.

For the 2023 season, Rudy will make the switch to the unpaved terrain.
