Eurol in Dakar 2019: Teams enjoy well deserved restday after gruelling stage 5

The longest stage of the 2019 Dakar Rally proved to be a real big challenge for all Eurol teams. Eurol supports the brave competitors to the 2019 Dakar Rally and reports on their achievements.

Toyota Gazoo Racing

Nasser Al-Attiyah of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team has reached the restday in Arequipa with a healthy lead in the overall classification. He and co-driver Mathieu Baumel finished in a solid second place during the long fifth stage of the rally. Giniel de Villiers is on his way back after a hard few days for the South African. De Villiers got a 9thplace during the last stage before a well deserved day of rest. Bernhard ten Brinke was also back on track after a major loss of time in stage four. The Dutchman finished in 10thplace.

Tim & Tom Coronel

The second part of the marathon stage was again a big challenge for Tim and Tom Coronel. The brothers reached the finish of the shortened stage almost two hours after the stage winner reached the same point.

Mammoet Rallysport

Janus van Kasteren had a difficult day at the office during the fifth stage. The Mammoet Rallysport driver got stuck in a deep ditch and although he got help to continue his way, it took Van Kasteren a long time to get back on track.

Riwald Dakar

For the Riwald Dakar Team the 2019 Dakar Rally is unfortunately over. Gert Huzink blew his engine just before the start of the stage and his race was over immediately.
